Choppity is entering a new chapter under new ownership. Focused on rebuilding trust, improving performance, and delivering creator-first innovation. This update covers everything we’ve shipped since the acquisition, what’s new this month, and where we’re heading next.

A new era for Choppity begins

In September 2025, Choppity was acquired by Michael Wong, founder of the online design school Designership and a content creator with over 400,000 followers, including more than 200,000 subscribers on YouTube where he teaches product design.

As both a founder and an active creator, Michael saw first-hand the growing need for an AI-powered video editor built specifically for transforming podcasts and long-form videos into engaging short clips.

Over the last three months, our mission has been simple:

  • Get back on top of support tickets
  • Fix long-standing bugs and stability issues
  • Ship meaningful, creator-focused features
  • Improve speed, reliability, and overall performance

Today, we’re excited to share everything we’ve shipped — and what’s coming next.

Import videos directly from YouTube

What we released

  • Upload long-form content directly using a YouTube URL
  • Faster ingestion and improved processing accuracy
  • Support for public videos

Why it matters

Creators and businesses no longer need to download massive files just to get started. This dramatically speeds up workflows and improves accessibility for teams working across platforms, especially when repurposing YouTube content into short clips.

How to use it

  • Go to “New Project” → “Import From YouTube”
  • Paste any YouTube link
  • Choppity processes the video automatically

Ask AI to clip any moment with natural language

What we released

  • New “Ask AI” panel for describing moments with simple prompts
  • Ability to ask for topics, themes, emotions, or specific moments
  • Improved clarity and accuracy in clip matching
  • Smarter clip generation using natural language

Why it matters

Instead of scrubbing through hours of footage, creators can now describe exactly what they want — and Choppity finds the moments instantly. Perfect for podcasts, interviews, and long-form content repurposing.

How to use it

  • Upload a video or import from YouTube
  • Type requests like: “Find moments where he explains the framework”
  • Generate short clips ranked by relevance

Relevance scoring for AI-generated clips

What we released

  • New relevance score displayed on each generated clip
  • Better semantic matching to understand your request
  • Clearer UI to help compare clips quickly

Why it matters

When many clips are generated at once, relevance scoring helps you instantly understand which clips are the closest match to your prompt — saving time and speeding up editing workflows.

How to use it

  • Generate clips using Ask AI
  • Review the score indicator beside each clip
  • Prioritise clips with higher scores

Improved Project loading speeds

What we released

  • Shipped Pagination in /projects
  • This prevents your account loading too many clips crashing the app

Why it matters

This directly addresses a highly reported issue: slow or stuck loading. With these improvements, creators can move between large projects quickly and reliably.

How to use it

Just open up your Projects folder.

UI refresh across key areas of the app

What we released

  • Cleaner visual hierarchy across the app
  • Improved navigation and tool discovery
  • Updated layouts for Projects
  • Modernised styling across key areas

New website aligned with our clear focus

What we released

  • A fully redesigned marketing website
  • Clearer messaging on what Choppity solves
  • SEO improvements for long-term growth
  • Updated visuals and branding

Why it matters

The new website reinforces our vision: to become the go-to platform for turning podcasts and long-form videos into viral short clips.

How to use it

  • Visit the homepage
  • Explore feature pages
  • Share with teammates or collaborators

Early wins and progress so far

Since the acquisition, we’ve seen strong improvements:

  • Support backlog reduced significantly
  • Project loading failures dropped
  • Faster clip generation
  • More creators and businesses joining the platform

These changes are just the beginning. Choppity is now more stable, more reliable, and evolving quickly.

What's coming next

Looking ahead, we’re doubling down on performance, reliability, and creator workflows.

Upcoming priorities:

  • Even faster loading speeds
  • Scalable infrastructure for massive video files
  • Support for more long-form formats
  • More automation across the entire workflow
  • Continued refinement of clipping and editing UX

While we explore more use cases, our focus remains clear: be the best tool for turning long-form content into short clips.
